Lenka Pellant, former concertmaster of the Lexington Chamber Orchestra, returns to Kentucky to help kick off the fourth season of Amadeus Lex, performing pieces by Mozart, Bartok, and Elgar.  This year begins a new chapter for the chamber music series as a non-profit!  The concert will also feature Jonathan Crosmer and Madeline Rogers performing the Brahms E-flat sonata for viola and piano, music that Brahms came out of retirement to write.

Autumn Memorial

Saturday, October 5th, 7:00 pm at First Christian Church, Berea, KY

Sunday, October 6th, 3:00 pm at Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church, Lexington, KY

Our Autumn concert will feature music written in memoriam, starting with Paul Hindemith's suite for viola and piano commissioned by the BBC after the death of King George V.  Then Sila and Luke Darville and Madeline Rogers will perform the intense and epic Tchaikovsky piano trio, which Tchaikovsky wrote in memory of his friend, the great pianist Nikolai Rubinstein.

Saturday, January 11th, 7:00 pm at St. Raphael Episcopal Church, Lexington, KY

Lex presents a Serenade by Hungarian composer Dohnányi followed by the Brahms Piano Quartet.  Dohnányi was such a fan of the latter that he recorded the fourth movement as a show-stopping piano solo. The Brahms quartet ends with a Hungarian-inspired flourish that has long been a favorite of performers and audiences.  Featuring JuRang Kim, Jonathan Crosmer, Jerram John, and Madeline Rogers.

Who We Are

Amadeus Lex was founded in 2021 by Dr. Jonathan Crosmer, who plays viola, composes, and is involved in many similarly suspect activities.  This season, the series is reorganized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and Dr. Crosmer is joined by Dr. Madeline Rogers as Co-Artistic Director.  Our musicians are high-caliber local professionals who love to play and are thrilled to bring you fun concerts!
